Some ground rules.

These are set and enforced by the dragons.social moderators.

  1. We believe freedom of speech is paramount, but like all freedoms, it comes with the requirement for its responsible and legal exercise. These rules set some "don't cross these" lines which should be considered by all posters as what we consider "responsible and legal exercise" on this service.
  2. No harassment. This means going above and beyond to antagonize other users using things like circumventing blocks/mutes. Users are expected to unfollow/block/mute other users who post content they do not wish to see. Respect their decision and requests to stop targeting/mentioning them.
  3. No brigading. Brigading is solicitation or inducement to harassment. Basically, getting your friends or followers to "jump on the bandwagon" to harass someone. Boycotting or expressing dissatisfaction with a corporate, political, or government entity may be exempt from this.
  4. No breaking US law, or laws in your jurisdiction. We have to comply with all bona fide US law enforcement requests delivered via warrant or court order.
  5. No impersonation. Parody is allowed, but parody accounts MUST be clearly identified. Attempting to impersonate another for financial/material gain, and soliciting such is considered fraud, and is illegal. Doing the same to defame, slander, or libel another can likewise be illegal.
  6. No stealing other's names from other social media services, for the purposes of impersonation or squatting. Squatting is registering/reserving an account name which you have not used prior, but someone else has on another service. Common words or names may be considered exempt from this rule.
  7. Don't spam (sending mass unsolicited commercial messages) via targeted posts or private messages. Advertising on your timeline to your followers is fine, and they can retoot it on their timeline, if they want. Social media isn't a replacement for email spam.
  8. Do not "dox" people (post private personal info on public timelines without permission). Publishing already legitimately publicly-known info is a gray area; just because it may be published by a legitimate official source is not necessarily defensible. If people want to know, they can look it up.
  9. Don't abuse or hack the service/servers. Participating in any kind of cracking or denial of service activities against the service, intentional or not, will be addressed immediately, potentially resulting in instant and irrevocable bans.
  10. Posting adult/mature content. After-Dark/adult/XXX/erotic content is only permitted from accounts which are clearly marked as posting such content. Minors may not create, post, receive, follow, or interact with such content and accounts. Any such content cannot violate US law.
  11. Respect copyrights. Avoid posting content that isn't yours, or that you don't have license to post. Copyright law still matters on social media, and reported violations will be taken seriously. Don't use other people's art for your avatars, backgrounds, or other decorations without their permission.
  12. DMCA takedown notices are only for content you own or have license to. We strive to respond in a timely manner to all properly-submitted DMCA requests. Please send them to dmca@dragons.social for expedited processing. Do note that bona-fide "fair use" will be considered in our response.
  13. Please respect the staff's time and try to take as little of it as possible in engaging us in administrative activities. Be direct and to the point in reports, and provide as much relevant info as possible. Be patient with us as we investigate and respond. We strive to work as quickly as we can.
  14. The catch-all rule: don't be a jerk. If your goal in life is just to make people miserable, especially those of us tasked with managing communities like this, then we'll feel more than justified to send you on your way with our hind-pawprints in your posterior. We're all people too.
